PANIC! ...NOW! MAYBE... NOT YET?
...new features can be scary

YES, I am aware that the legs and arms don't sync. I realized that during the making of the 3rd sprite, but rather than start over I decided that later I would correct the legs with PhotoShop.
This is the animation draft of Oat running. Oat is the character in a game I am making with SDL and C++, using a crappy game engine I am making using SDL, called OAT. I drew all these frames on a sketchpad with a regular #2 pencil. I scanned them and touched them up a bit, then animated. What I will do with these is trace over them on a new layer in PS with my Wacom tablet, color them in with PS, then scale them to a useable size and make a sprite sheet from the different frames. This is just the basic running animation, I still need to do Jumping, death, victory, and climbing rope set. If I can figure out a way to make this in SDL, I might even include a wallslide/wall jump one similar to that of Mega Man X and Ninja Gaiden 2. This is one of the first images made for my game, and I am very proud of it. Yes, it is absolute crap, but most homebrew games are. If you want to download the pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha release of my game, you can find it on [link] . As I type this, that link isn't there, I plan to add that page in about a day or so. I will have the source code package for Windows and Linux, which should have compiled binaries in them. |
